Kerala is the easiest part of India to travel slowly, which is exactly how it should be done. Distances are short, the food is extraordinary, and nothing about it rewards hurrying.
We usually start in Fort Kochi for the history and the food, drop down to the backwaters for a night or two on a private kettuvallam, then climb into the hills at Munnar where you will want a blanket. If you have the days, we finish on a quiet stretch of coast rather than a resort strip.
