India has more wild tigers than the rest of the world combined, and seeing one is still a matter of patience and luck. What you can control is who is driving, which zone you are in, and how many mornings you give it.
We book private vehicles with naturalists we know by name, aim for three or four game drives minimum, and are honest with you about the odds. Anyone promising a guaranteed sighting is selling something.

Core zones close during the monsoon, roughly July to September, and Kaziranga shuts from May. Sightings are never guaranteed; March to May is hottest and by far the best for tigers because the animals come to water.
Ranthambore is by road or train from Jaipur or Delhi. Bandhavgarh and Kanha are reached via Jabalpur, and Kaziranga via Guwahati or Jorhat.
Core-zone safari permits are booked by name and passport number and open 120 days ahead. They sell out for weekends and holidays. Give us your dates early and we will hold them.
Malaria prophylaxis is worth discussing with your doctor for Kaziranga and the central parks.
Neutral colours – greens, browns, grey. No white, no bright blue. Mornings in an open jeep are genuinely cold from December to February.
